Hi, I'm Alex. I want to learn.

I've grown up with a fascination for figuring out how things work. Dozens of broken toys and a few years later, my interest shifted towards understanding how the world works. In college, I studied Applied Cultural Anthropology in order to appreciate the complexities of groups of people across the globe and in my backyard. I supplemented this with a second degree in Natural Resources, which has given me an appreciation for the simultaneous strength and vulnerability of natural systems.

Exploring the connections between humans and their environment means recognizing that both are intricately connected and subject to change. These living, breathing research fields have taught be to be flexible, and never to stagnate or become complacent in my approach. In order to keep my work relevant and well-rounded, I've found myself working on a wide variety of projects, studying people, the environment, or both.

My interests have grown with my exposure to more methods in the field. I've worked in digital storytelling, qualitative research, ethnography, community engagement, academic research projects, international exchange, and other projects. I've found these projects each provide a unique framework to exploring and working to understand some of the problems the world faces today.
